Senior Accountant

Harris County ESD No. 48 is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Finance Specialist to join our team. This position plays a critical role in supporting the organization's financial operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, organizational abilities, and a commitment to accuracy and accountability.

The Finance Specialist is an At-Will employee and serves at the discretion of the Fire Chief and the HCESD No. 48 Board of Commissioners.

• Assist with development, maintenance, and monitoring of departmental budget
• Prepare financial analyses, reports, and presentations to support leadership
• Coordinate and manage special financial projects
• Manage disaster grant oversight
• Perform financial oversight functions, including:
  • Credit card reconciliations
  • Bank statement reviews
  • Bank transfers and account monitoring
• Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies and procedures
• Assist with strategic and long-term financial planning efforts
• Collaborate with departments to support operational and financial goals
• Maintain organized financial records and documentation
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Fire Chief

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Business Management
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with government accounting
• Proficiency in financial software (Net Suite or Black Mountain)
• Strong understanding of financial reporting and budget management
