Senior Settlement Analyst

The Senior Settlements Analyst serves as a subject matter resource in a high-impact role at the intersection of trading, logistics, and finance. This role independently resolves escalated exceptions, leads process improvement initiatives, and serves as a point of contact for internal stakeholders and counter parties on settlement-related matters. The Senior Settlements Analyst operates with a high degree of independence, applies advanced knowledge of settlement workflows, and contributes to the development of operational controls and best practices.

Essential Functions:

• Independently confirm and reconcile trade details against contracts and deal sheets across multiple product types; own end-to-end resolution of complex, multi-party, or high-value discrepancies without supervisory direction.
• Oversee the settlement fail management process; apply advanced exception management techniques, lead direct counter party negotiations on aged or high-value fails, and drive resolution timelines in coordination with management.
• Serve as the primary operational point of contact for trading, treasury, and accounting on complex or escalated settlement issues; facilitate cross-functional resolution and provide authoritative guidance on settlement process questions.
• Produce, review, and enhance daily settlement reports and exception summaries for senior management; identify reporting gaps, recommend improvements to reporting frameworks, and ensure documentation meets audit and regulatory standards.
• Lead the identification, design, and implementation of improvements to settlement workflows and reconciliation processes; quantify fail rate reduction opportunities and represent the settlements function in cross-departmental system and process improvement projects.
• Act as the primary settlements subject matter expert for internal and external audits; independently coordinate documentation requests, lead responses to complex control testing inquiries, and manage remediation efforts resulting from audit findings.
• Provide day-to-day technical guidance and informal mentorship to Settlements Analysts; review work product, support onboarding, and contribute to the development of standard operating procedures and desk-level training materials.
• Maintains compliance with all PTL policies and procedures.

• 4-6 years of progressive experience in settlements, financial operations, or a related back-office role.
• Advanced knowledge of settlement processes, including domestic and international transaction processing across multiple asset classes.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities, meet daily cutoff deadlines, and independently resolve complex exceptions.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes and recommend operational improvements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and settlement/operations platforms; experience with DTC, Euroclear, or similar systems preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to effectively engage with senior stakeholders, counter parties, and cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to informally lead, guide, and develop less experienced team members.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field required.
