Job Summary
Escrow Assistant – responsible for handling real‑estate escrow transactions, managing escrow accounts, processing documents, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities- Establish new escrow accounts, deposit and manage funds.
- Process documents for closings and complete settlements in accordance with established policies.
- Act as a neutral liaison between all parties involved in the transaction.
- Determine closing requirements by reviewing buyer, seller, and lender instructions.
- Order title reports, clear titles, resolve defects, and satisfy existing liens and encumbrances.
- Prepare transaction documents, complete required forms and statements, and collect existing documents.
- Calculate pr orations for taxes and interest.
- Assemble, review, and explain closing documents with parties, answer questions, and verify completeness.
- Obtain necessary signatures and record documents.
- Distribute final closing statements and prepare settlement statements using lender instructions.
- Close escrow accounts by balancing accounts and disbursing funds.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and enforce adherence to company policy.
- Update knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, and industry organizations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–4 years of related experience.
- Direct experience handling escrow transactions as an escrow assistant (preferred).
- Valid licensing or certification required by applicable state.
- Knowledge of standard escrow and title industry practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong client‑relations and organizational skills.
- Ability to write reports and correspondence.
- Effective public‑speaking skills before groups of customers or employees.
- Proficiency in calculating discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Detail‑oriented, professional, and able to handle confidential information.
- Ability to interact with real‑estate sellers, buyers, agents, and brokers.
$26.88 – $35.83 per hour.
