Position PurposePerform numerous functions including processing deposits, withdrawals, posting to general ledger accounts, cashing negotiable items, processing loan payments, savings bonds, and cashier's checks while promoting the bank’s products and services and providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities- Represents the bank in a courteous and professional manner.
- Receives and processes deposits, loan payments, and transfers between accounts.
- Cashes checks and other negotiable instruments for clients.
- Examines documents for endorsements and negotiability.
- Sells traveler’s checks, official checks, and money orders.
- Processes credit card cash advances.
- Verifies and balances cash daily and resolves discrepancies promptly.
- Offers other bank products to meet customer needs and strengthen relationships.
- Maintains compliance with teller procedures and other internal controls.
- Assists area personnel, participates in training or orientation, and informs supervisors of relevant activity.
- Attends meetings and training sessions, including evenings and Saturdays, as required.
- Performs night drop functions and related clerical duties.
- Maintains clean, secure, and well‑maintained work areas.
- Cross‑sells bank products and services.
- Teller functions are performed efficiently, effectively, and accurately according to established policies, standards, and security procedures.
- Cash is balanced and any discrepancies are resolved promptly; balances meet established standards.
- Clients experience courteous and prompt resolution of problems and inquiries.
- Effective working relationships and coordination exist with area personnel and management, with appropriate communication of activities and issues.
- Required reports and records are accurate, complete, and timely.
- New client relationships are pursued and existing relationships are strengthened by identifying opportunities to sell bank products and services.
- The bank’s professional reputation is maintained and conveyed.
- Education/Certification: High school graduate or equivalent.
- Required Knowledge: Understanding of bank operations preferred.
- Required Knowledge Proficiencies: Mentor Program, 90‑day training and webinar completion, DNA Standard/UX, CTR/MIL, IVIEW, Product Knowledge, SCO, ATM Balancing, WITS/Wires – domestic, Risk Management Skill, Dual Control.
- Experience
Required:
At least one year of related cash handling experience preferred; previous teller experience preferred. - Skills/Abilities: Good communication, professional appearance, math and typing skills, proficiency with related computer applications and business equipment (adding machine, typewriter, copy machine, coin/money counting machines, telephone).
- Talking: frequently convey detailed instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Average hearing: normal conversational hearing.
- Finger dexterity: small, precise movements such as typing and picking up small objects.
- Repetitive motion: frequent wrist, hand, and finger movements.
- Average visual abilities: ordinary visual acuity to prepare or inspect documents, products, or operate machinery.
- Physical strength: sedentary work; may exert 10–25 lbs occasionally.
- No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions expected.
- Reasoning ability: apply common sense to carry out detailed instructions and handle problems with a few variables.
- Mathematics ability: basic math, decimals, ratios, percentages, graph interpretation.
- Language ability: passive vocabulary of 5,000–6,000 words, read at a slow rate, define unfamiliar words, write complex sentences with proper punctuation, communicate in complex sentences with present and past tense.
Monday – Friday: 1:30 PM – 6:00 PM // Saturday: 7:45 AM – 12:00 PM
