Cath Lab Technologist

Takes radiologic films of the body requiring specialized or complicated procedures to assist in the diagnosis of diseases and injuries. Acts as an assistant to the physician during invasive radiological procedures.

Perform special/invasive radiology procedures on patients ensuring compliance with all radiation safety procedures. Responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, explaining procedures, administering contrast when necessary, positioning patients, selecting appropriate imaging techniques, ensuring technical quality of images, entering and monitoring patient data, performing quality assurance on radiology equipment, and identifying and reporting any accidents, complaints, or equipment malfunctions. Additional duties include taking emergency calls, adhering to policies and standards, managing time, supplies, productivity, and quality of service, and promoting professional growth and development.

• Education:
  
  Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
• Licenses/Certifications:
  
  Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support;
  Current license or temporary license by the Texas Medical Board (MRT);
  Registered Radiology Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT‑R).

  Ability to lift and/or maneuver patients in conjunction with others to perform job functions.

• Perform special/invasive radiology procedures on patients ensuring compliance with all radiation safety procedures: prepare patients for exams, explain procedures, administer contrast when necessary, position patients, select appropriate imaging techniques, and ensure technical quality of the images.
• Enter and monitor patient data.
• Perform quality assurance on radiology equipment and assist with initial and renewal application for ACR and other accreditation.
• Identify and report any accidents, complaints or equipment malfunction to department management.
• Takes emergency call within the department.
• Ensure safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
• Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; support department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serve as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
