Job Summary

Reporting to the Regional Director of Med Trans, the Senior Manager is responsible for operational support and supervision of either Multiple Branch locations or a single mega‑large branch location. This position interacts with cross‑functional teams including Sales, HR, Customer Service and Branch Personnel. The role will provide Med Trans services while keeping expenses under control and ensuring proper communication between drivers, Branch and Corporate Management.

The Senior Manager must ensure compliance with all state Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Company regulations and adapt Med Trans capabilities to provide efficient, high‑quality transportation service.

Major Responsibilities
  • Develop and mentor staff through onboarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes.
  • Build and maintain employee morale and motivation; ensure the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies.
  • Develop and grow the local Med Trans management structure in each location to ensure proper bench strength and direct driver engagement.
  • Perform route profitability and efficiency exercises to improve P&L and efficiency performance.
  • Optimize daily routes and activities based on Branch and Fleet workloads and available Customer order information to maximize the utilization of all Fleet assets.
  • Ensure compliance with all DOT and Company regulations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the regional and local leadership including Medline Sales Force and Branch Operations Management.
  • Ensure drivers are properly trained according to Med Trans requirements and that the safe and efficient operation of the assigned Med Trans fleet is maintained.
  • Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained in accordance with the Med Trans vehicle maintenance policy.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with drivers as required by DOT or company policy.
  • Review financial metrics monthly and quarterly.
  • Develop cost reduction initiatives for the branch.
  • Visit Medline customers (with or without Sales) to discuss operational issues and improve delivery service.
Management Responsibilities
  • Typically manages through multiple Managers and/or Supervisors.
  • Oversee major projects, programs, and outcomes.
  • Budget responsibility.
  • Interpret and execute policies for departments and projects; develop, recommend and implement new or modified policies.
  • Provide general guidelines and parameters for staff functioning.
  • Hire staff, recommend pay increases, perform performance reviews, train and develop staff, estimate personnel needs, assign work, meet completion dates, and ensure consistent application of organizational policies.
Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Experience managing and dispatching drivers and using routing software.
  • At least 5 years of experience coaching, mentoring, and training staff.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Transportation Costing and Motor Carrier Operations.
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Excel.
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to move, lift, and carry supplies/equipment up to 50 lbs, occasionally up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for a minimum of 8 hours and up to 12 hours per day for up to 6 days a week.

Anticipated Salary Range: $ - $ annual.

The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
