Mechanical Technician Trainee
Location: Katy TX 77493
Duration: 06+ Months
Rotation: 1st Shift 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, or 2nd Shift 3:00 pm - 1:00 am;
Weekend rotation required
Summary:
- Overtime expected.
- Local candidates only.
- Potential for extension or conversion to full-time.
Maintain assigned equipment according to the pertinent maintenance program and compliant with the reliability centered maintenance strategy through adherence to the Computerized Maintenance Management System and standard work.
- Adhere to transactional discipline within Technology Lifecycle Management (TLM) business systems to record materials and supplies, labor costs and equipment maintenance performance history such as movements, work orders, parts used and time to maintain.
- Comply with TLM Product Line standards.
- Participate in the continuous improvement culture, initiatives and improvement plans within the MB to improve asset utilization and cost of service delivery (CoSD).
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts to improve asset turnaround time, which includes reducing downtime due to maintenance, parts and return authorization numbers, failures and work-in-process.
- Support continuous improvement efforts to improve the efficiency and productivity of Maintenance Technicians.
- Implement CoSD projects, such as the planned repair and reuse of parts.
- Participate in failure investigations as assigned.
- Comply with the TLM Competency Management System. Key Responsibilities
- Tear down and clean tools from oil rigs (wash bay, power washing, disassembly).
- Use basic hand tools such as drills and grinders.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Support maintenance and production operations.
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience; entry-level candidates are acceptable.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools.
- Willingness to work and learn.
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook).
- Familiarity with maintenance management systems is a plus. Team Structure
- Team-oriented environment with interdependent tasks.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Safety
- PPE issued: hard hat, standard safety glasses.
- Worker must provide steel-toed boots and prescription safety glasses if needed.
- In-person interviews at Katy facility.
- Conducted by hiring manager and team leads.
- Multiple candidates may be scheduled simultaneously.
- No formal education or certifications required.
- High school graduates with mechanical aptitude are acceptable.
- Experience with cranes/forklifts is helpful;
Client will recertify as needed.
