Production Manager

Summary

As Production Manager, you will lead daily production operations to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and to established quality standards. Your leadership will be essential to strengthening workforce effectiveness, improving operational performance, and enabling Mattr to consistently achieve its production, safety, quality, and delivery objectives at the Katy, Texas facility.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily production and processing operations to achieve production targets, delivery requirements, and quality standards.
  • Develop production schedules, manage staffing levels, and allocate resources to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Provide visible leadership, coaching, and development to production employees and supervisors while reinforcing accountability and operational discipline.
  • Monitor workflow, equipment performance, and production activity across processing lines, taking action to address operational constraints.
  • Partner with process engineering teams to evaluate production processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, throughput, yield, and productivity.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that reduce waste, downtime, and scrap while improving overall production performance.
  • Monitor and report production KPIs, including output, downtime, yield, scrap, and productivity.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for production and operational issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Support process validation, equipment upgrades, and the implementation of new or improved production processes.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and Sales to resolve production challenges, optimize scheduling, and respond to operational priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, company policies, operational procedures, and established safety standards.
  • Train employees on processing procedures, equipment operation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain accurate production records and operational reports to support performance monitoring and cost management.
  • Manage projects and project teams associated with operational and process improvements.
  • Communicate with internal teams regarding scheduling, production expedites, process improvements, and operational issues, and support interactions with customer visitors as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; university degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five to seven years of relevant experience in manufacturing, production operations, or industrial processing; seven to ten years of experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated production leadership experience, including the ability to lead, coach, and develop frontline employees and supervisors.
  • Six Sigma training and documented evidence of successfully implementing process improvements.
  • Lean Manufacturing or advanced continuous improvement certification is an asset.
  • Experience with production management, resource allocation, KPI management, quality systems, root cause analysis, safety leadership, and process optimization.
  • Experience using manufacturing reporting systems, KPI dashboards, and production systems; experience with ERP or MRP systems is preferred.
  • Proven ability to improve production efficiency, throughput, yield, productivity, safety performance, and workforce effectiveness.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and change-management skills.
