Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or closely related field.
- Three to five years of experience in public relations or journalism.
- Strong writing, graphic design, video production skills.
- Experience in a variety of media including website, social media, news releases, video scripts, annual reports, brochures, speeches, etc.
- Experience creating brand identity for community engagement programs and events.
- Working knowledge of social media and web content management and metrics collection for communication efforts.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite for graphic design, Constant Contact email marketing software, SharePoint for website, video and photography apps for smartphone.
- Some experience with marketing campaign development and implementation.
- Extensive marketing campaign development and implementation experience.
- Excellent public relations and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organize, self‑motivate and work in teams.
- Ability to complete multiple projects independently with tight deadlines.
- Position requires high levels of community and campus interaction.
- Position requires attendance at frequent after‑hours events and meetings.
- Portfolio review will be a major consideration in applicant screening and selection.
This position will work with the Executive Director of Community Partnerships and the Partners in Education School‑Business Partnership Coordinator to implement a comprehensive communications plan for both the Katy ISD Education Foundation and Partners in Education, including but not limited to social media messaging, graphic design, video production, social media‑driven fundraising, along with support for the Katy ISD School‑Business Partnership portal.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Lead graphic design for both Katy ISD Partners in Education and the Katy ISD Educational Foundation.
- Plan and implement social media campaigns for both organizations.
- Plan and oversee all aspects of collateral development including design, layout, and printing while ensuring on‑time product delivery.
- Engage outside vendors as needed for photography and video production, overseeing the project from start to finish and ensuring compliance with district messaging and standards.
- Manage and monitor content on both social media sites including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), You Tube, and Instagram; design Constant Contact email messaging, incorporating messages into the overall communications plan.
- Produce various in‑house photography and video projects by shooting, editing, then distributing the final product.
- Maintain the Education Foundation and Partners in Education web pages (SharePoint) ensuring quality, relevant, interactive content.
- Create graphics for social media, website, and other online communication vehicles.
- Coordinate teacher grant activity communications, incorporating grant implementation into the social media calendar and other materials.
- Provide team support for meetings and events hosted by the Education Foundation and Partners in Education.
- Liaise with the Katy ISD Communications Department.
- Provide exceptional customer service for all parties engaged in the foundation and partnership programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
