Nurse Practitioner
The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition is seeking a full‑time Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our Gastroenterology team at Memorial Hermann – Katy. This advanced practice position provides specialized nursing care in a clinic or hospital setting under the direction of a physician, ensuring patients receive compassionate support throughout their treatment journey.

Provides advanced nursing care to patients with complex acute, critical, and/or chronic health conditions in a clinic or hospital setting in one or more specialized areas under the direction of a physician.
Position Key Accountabilities- Perform complex, standardized patient care procedures typically performed by a physician, but not constituting the practice of medicine.
- Conduct independent and physician‑supervised rounding on the unit.
- Perform patient evaluations and assessments, and provide appropriate treatment, including monitoring and ordering medications.
- Coordinate, direct, and implement the patient’s plan of care.
- Assist in collecting patient histories, screen for co‑morbidities, and provide guidance and preventive health care as needed.
- Perform physical examinations and provide episodic or problem‑oriented care under physician supervision.
- Order appropriate laboratory, diagnostic, and radiographic tests and interpret results.
- Monitor the treatment program and communicate pertinent medical information to the attending physician.
- Facilitate patient education regarding medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
- Assist physicians in formulating therapeutic decisions.
- Maintain appropriate records and prepare charts for physician review and counter‑signature.
- Prepare and care for supplies and equipment.
- Respond to emergency situations.
- Perform within the scope of practice prescribed by licensure and certification.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Registered Nurse (RN) State Licensure or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) by Texas Board of Nursing (BON) required
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse – Nurse Practitioner (APRN‑NP) by Texas Board of Nursing (BON) required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Clinical specialty certification determined by the department (excluding FNP unless paired with a post‑master’s specialty certification)
Master’s Degree in Nursing as an NP or Master’s in Nursing with completion of a post‑master’s Nurse Practitioner Certification Program.
Minimum ExperiencePrevious experience in the clinical focus area is preferred.
Physical RequirementsExert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
