Full-Time Registered Nurse PAT
Townsen Memorial Surgery Center, Katy is looking for a Full-Time Registered Nurse PAT to join our team. The Registered Nurse, PAT is responsible for coordinating the pre-admission testing (PAT) and interview/assessment process for patients scheduled to undergo an invasive or surgical procedure. Communicates with providers and/or their respective office staff as indicated regarding patient testing results to optimize the patients condition prior to surgery.
Essential functions include ensuring supplies and equipment needed are available and in good working order, explaining nursing procedures and actions taken to help reduce anxiety, assessing patients physical and mental status, documenting patient care delivered accurately in the medical record, implementing doctors orders in a timely and accurate manner, coordinating patient care; providing explanations and teaching to patient/family, planning for routine events and anticipating/preventing and managing/evaluating emergent situations, adapting to unexpected changes, performing all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors, and participating in performance improvement activities.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include the ability to work independently, demonstrating sound judgment and reliability, initiative and ability to troubleshoot and resolve conflict, ability to thrive and succeed in a team environment, exceptional organization skills, ability to multitask and prioritize work activity based on need, attention to detail, initiative, and follow-through skills, advanced level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability and attention to detail yielding effective conveyance of information.
Education and experience include an Associates Degree in Nursing, Registered Nurse in the State of Texas, one (1) year of perioperative nursing experience, Basic Life Support certified, Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) certified or must be obtained within 60 days of hire, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
