Position: 041 RETAIL - FT STOCKER (81226)
Job Overview
Provide extraordinary shopping experiences and exceptional service at checkout in the Specs Family Partners store located at 041 Westheimer Parkway, Katy, TX 77494. This is a full‑time position.
Responsibilities
Know and actively demonstrate the Company Mission Statement and Core Values daily.Maintain uniform standards as detailed in the Employee Manual for all worked hours.Greet guests with a smiling face, use the Guest Services script, offer the 5% discount to Specs locations, ask for the Specs Key, call the guest by name, offer additional items, offer the charity of the month, and thank the guest.Operate cash register or electronic scanner, look up products for UPC codes or prices, ensure proper pricing by scanning correct barcode, and use and maintain computers and equipment.Sell items suggestively at the register and offer add‑on items including the charity of the month.Monitor merchandise brought to the register by stockers to charge accurate amounts.Redeem coupons and weigh produce items when required.Ask the guest to read and answer the pin pad question before starting the transaction; never answer the pin pad for the guest.Check acceptable identification, use 36 sign‑in to ensure legal sale.Receive cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or gift cards; issue receipts and any change due.Accurately count change back to the guest.Bag or box merchandise appropriately, use bottle protectors when necessary, and only use double bags when requested.Assist with carry‑outs when needed and feasible.Compute and record totals of all transactions on the daily record sheet.Call the code for a cash drop when the limit is reached.Keep the work area clean, neat, and not overstocked.Count down the drawer at the end of the shift and prepare the final drop.Answer questions and provide information to guests.Resolve guest complaints with courtesy and respect.Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.Avoid using personal cell phones while on the sales floor.Stock shelves and check price tags as needed.Monitor the checkout station to ensure all tools are stocked.Prepare assigned areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.Carry out directives from management efficiently.Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.Work time‑management skills, prioritize tasks, and manage stress in a fast‑paced environment.Stand most of the shift, bend, walk occasionally, lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds or more occasionally, push or pull 50–100 pounds or more occasionally, and use proper lifting techniques.Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.Perform other projects and tasks assigned by management; may include restroom cleaning.Maintain attendance and timeliness.Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred; cashiering experience preferred but not required.
- Over 21 years old, as required by state law.
- Valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit; may require Food Handlers Permit.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions; bilingual skills are a plus.
- Strong mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, calculation of discounts and percentages.
- Friendly, helpful, outgoing personality with strong work ethic; self‑starter.
- Ability to manage stress, work in fast‑paced environment, and work in teams.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 pounds regularly, occasionally up to 100 pounds; proper lifting techniques required.
- Valid driver’s license not required.
Hours
Full‑time: typically 35 hours per week. Must be available to work any shift on Friday or Saturday and available at least 80% of all shifts each week. Part‑time: up to 25 hours per week. Scheduling is based on business needs; working outside of scheduled time requires District Manager approval.
Physical Demands
Requires standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 to 100 pounds occasionally, and use of arms, hands, and fingers to handle items. Must be able to maintain balance and communicate.
