American Furniture Warehouse (AFW) is seeking a Home Furnishings Consultant to advise customers on selecting home furnishings and accessories. This role involves guiding customers through showrooms, understanding their needs through open-ended questions, and educating them on products and trends. The consultant will utilize basic selling skills and leverage technology like tablets and POS systems to enhance the customer experience. While a retail or sales background is preferred, a willingness to learn is essential.

The position offers paid training, a commission-based pay structure with significant earning potential, and benefits. Flexibility in shifts, including weekends and holidays, is required.

Job Overview

In this position, you would be advising and guiding customers- assisting in the selection of home furnishings and accessories for their homes.

Asa Home Furnishings Consultant, you will use basic selling skills to guide the customer throughour showrooms; selecting furniture and home décor productshelpingthem create something fresh and new in their homes.

Job Expectations& Duties

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

Demonstratea customer-first mindsetandbeaccessible to ensure every customer has a great shopping experience.

Connect with customers by asking open-ended questions to assess needsand make relevant merchandise suggestions.

Educate customers on our products, policies, and events.

Commitment to AFW’s safety policies and procedures.

Capable of walking the show floor to ensure customers are being assisted.

Speak knowledgeably and confidently to customers about styles, fit, fabrics,price,and trends inhome furnishings.

Experienced in meeting high customer expectations.

Have a Do It Right the First-Time mentality.

Detail oriented with strong follow up and follow through skills.

Possess excellent time management abilities.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Understand website navigation and point of sales systems to proactively leverage technology to facilitate the overall customer experience.

Job Requirements

Willingness to learn about the industry, the products, and the customers

Maintain a professional appearance and followthe dress guidelines.

Attend daily meetings and required training.

Have a flexible schedule and work all shifts, which include weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Follow the guidelines set forth in theAFW Code of Conduct for Home Furnishings Consultants.

Assist in the maintenance of the showroom including daily cleaning, vacuuming, and tagging.

Adhere to the AFW asset protection policies in helping to identify and prevent fraud.

Coordinate and work effectively with multiple departments tocontinuouslyimprove processes,maximize efficiency,and exceed customer service expectations.

Ability to learn and apply new technologies including tablets, iPads, and basic computer knowledge.

Basic computer skills required.

Certificates & Licenses

Certifications and licenses related to business are preferred.

Education & Experience:

Experience in retail or a sales-focused environment is preferred. High School Diploma. Two-year Business or Design degree preferred.

Compensation Package

Training pay: $16/Hour

Pay after completion of training: $22.74 draw rate - Commission pay structure.
