Responsibilities
- Assist with installing, assembling, and maintaining piping and plumbing systems composed of various materials.
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe using hand and power tools under supervision.
- Assist with welding, soldering, threading, and fitting pipe according to specifications.
- Gather and organize required tools, materials, and equipment for each job.
- Assist with installing pipe supports including brackets, clamps, and hangers.
- Assist with installation of pipe insulation and coverings.
- Follow company quality procedures and documented work instructions.
- Assist in maintaining accurate job documentation, material records, and inspection logs.
- Report quality issues or nonconforming materials to supervisors.
- Ensure materials and components used meet specifications and quality requirements.
- Maintain proper handling and storage of materials according to quality procedures.
- Follow OSHA regulations and company safety policies at all times.
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection.
- Participate in job safety briefings and hazard identification activities.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near‑miss events immediately.
- Assist with proper disposal of materials in accordance with hazardous waste procedures and EPA guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Basic ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Familiarity with basic pipe fitting tools and equipment.
- Strong willingness to learn pipe fitting techniques and safety practices.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Must be able to successfully pass a 1G TIG/MIG test.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 0–2 years of pipe fitting or related mechanical experience.
- Enrollment in or completion of a pipe fitting trade program or apprenticeship preferred.
- Exposure to loud noises, extreme temperatures, and hazardous materials.
- Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- May involve working overtime depending on project needs.
- Prolonged periods of standing and stretching to install and repair pipes and pipe fittings.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must possess visual acuity required to inspect piping systems and read plans or blueprints.
