Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Fiber Optic Splicer role based in Katy, TX. The Fiber Optic Splicer will prepare, splice, and test fiber optic cables in the field, including fusion splicing, mechanical terminations, and handling various cable types and enclosures. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting network plans, performing structured cabling tasks, installing and labeling cables, and using hand tools and testing equipment to ensure signal integrity.
The role involves troubleshooting and repairing fiber issues, maintaining accurate documentation of work performed, and following safety protocols and company procedures. The Fiber Optic Splicer will collaborate with field crews, supervisors, and project managers to meet installation deadlines and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Experience working with fiber optic cables and general cabling, including installation, routing, and termination.
- Knowledge of structured cabling systems and standards for telecommunications and data networks.
- Basic understanding of electricity and low-voltage systems relevant to fiber and telecom installations.
- Proficiency using hand tools and related equipment for cable preparation, splicing, and testing.
- Ability to read blueprints, network diagrams, and splice documentation; strong attention to detail.
- Commitment to safety practices, including working in outdoor and construction environments.
- Previous experience as a Fiber Optic Splicer or in telecom/low-voltage installation preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications (e.g., fiber optics) are a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills, reliability, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
