Position Summary
The Sexual Assault Advocate provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive support to survivors of sexual assault and their families. This includes crisis intervention, hospital accompaniment, legal and medical advocacy, case management, and community education. This role requires collaboration with law enforcement, healthcare providers, and social service agencies to ensure comprehensive care and support for survivors.
Essential Responsibilities- Provide immediate crisis intervention and emotional support to survivors in person, virtually, and via phone.
- Accompany survivors to hospitals, police departments, and court proceedings.
- Participate in on‑call rotations for 24/7 hospital response.
- Assist with safety planning, resource referrals, and Crime Victim Compensation applications.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Understanding of trauma‑informed care and survivor‑centered advocacy.
- Knowledge of victim rights and local/state/federal laws.
- Ability to work with diverse populations, including culturally specific communities.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in crisis situations.
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical practice.
- Completion of a 40‑hour Sexual Assault Advocacy Training (or ability to complete within 30 days).
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.
- Ability to pass background checks and drug screening.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in victim advocacy, social work, or related field.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in human services, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related field.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills.
- Mix of office and field work, including hospital and legal accompaniments.
- Will require evening, weekend, and holiday availability.
- Must be able to respond to calls within 15 minutes during on‑call shifts.
