Truck Driver - Hiker​/Vehicle Transporter​/CDL - Part Time

Overview

Penske Truck Leasing seeks motivated applicants for the position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This role is responsible for vehicle delivery and returning vehicles to Penske locations and customers. Primarily, the position moves box trucks up to 26’; for CDL Class A, it will include tractors and trailer movement. The role may also assist the service department in delivering parts and equipment.

This is a casual/on-call part-time truck driving job for licensed CDL Class B or CDL Class A drivers seeking supplemental income, with approximately 0 to 25 hours per week based on business needs. Flexible schedule includes Monday – Friday with weekends as needed.

• Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske locations or customer sites
• Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order; report issues to the location manager
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicles
• Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

• 2 years of driving experience required
• 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record required
• Valid Class B CDL required. Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence
• CDL Class A license preferred
• Ability to read and follow written instructions
• Ability to work independently, customer service skills, organizational skills, and a positive attitude
• English language proficiency is required to comply with federal law (49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2))
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
• DOT-regulated role with a current driver qualification file (MVR check, DOT Physical, Safety Performance History, and background checks). CDL holders will have a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and FMCSA Clearinghouse review
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, and complete Penske employment processes including background checks and drug screening

• Ability to see, hear, and use close/distance/peripheral vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• Frequent standing, walking, and sitting; ability to move and handle items and reach with hands/arms
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg)
• Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely enter/exit the vehicle and rear cargo area
