Job Overview
Capital Railroad Contracting, Inc. is hiring Track Laborers to support railroad construction, maintenance, and repair projects across commercial and industrial job sites. This is an entry-level, hands-on role ideal for individuals who are dependable, safety-driven, and ready to work as part of a high-performing crew. Track Laborers perform physically demanding work using hand tools and equipment to build, maintain, and restore railroad track systems while following strict safety standards.
No prior railroad experience is required - we are willing to train motivated individuals who bring the right attitude and work ethic.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor to construct, repair, maintain, and remove railroad track and related components
- Carry, place, and install track materials using hand tools such as shovels, tie tongs, lining bars, rail forks, jacks, and ballast forks
- Lift, position, remove, and install railroad ties and rail with crew assistance
- Attach and remove rail fasteners using spike mauls, spike drivers, spike pullers, and claw bars
- Move, clean, tamp, and shape ballast material
- Assist with raising and aligning track, turnouts, crossings, and rail using track or power jacks
- Cut, drill, and modify materials using approved tools and equipment
- Work safely around heavy equipment by guiding and controlling materials being moved
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free jobsite
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
- Participate in daily safety briefings and jobsite safety meetings
- Follow all railroad, company, and regulatory safety rules
- Support crew leadership and assist with supervision when needed
- High School Diploma or GED required
- No prior railroad experience required - training provided
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds with or without assistance
- Physically capable of performing demanding outdoor labor in all weather conditions
- Willingness to travel to various job sites, including overnight travel on short notice
- Ability to walk long distances on uneven terrain and railroad right-of-way
- Able to follow verbal, visual, and written instructions
- Strong safety awareness and hazard recognition skills
- Ability to work independently at times and as part of a crew
- Safety-first mindset with strong situational awareness
- Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated
- Calm and adaptable when conditions or plans change
- Team-oriented and willing to help wherever needed

- $25.00 per hour
