Bus Driver

The Bus Driver works closely with the Learning Academy’s management team to efficiently plan daily bus schedules to support the program. Maintains appropriate vehicle records and required training and is always focused on the safety of the children. Ensures that vehicles are consistently clean and safe.

• Must meet or exceed state licensing requirements for the position.
• Must meet the minimum requirements set by the state childcare regulatory agency for appropriate vehicle.
• Must be capable of lifting, carrying, and holding children in accordance with local state requirements.
• Hold current certification in both CPR and First Aid as well as transportation training requirement.
• Meet or exceed state training requirements.

• Attends vehicle safety training as needed/required.
• Informs Learning Academy’s management of any issues that might impact the ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
• Informs Learning Academy’s management of any issues that occur after the initial hire date that affect the status of the driver’s license, such as reckless driving offenses, moving violations, or offenses involving drugs or alcohol.
• Performs the required pre-trip safety inspection of the vehicle and conducts required vehicle evacuation drills.
• Maintains consistent supervision of children while driving.
• Interacts effectively with all children, using positive guidance techniques consistent with KRK policies and procedures.
• Strives to prevent injuries and handles emergencies, accidents, and injuries appropriately if they occur.
• Understands and implements emergency procedures in cases of fire, tornado, chemical leak, or other emergencies.
• When necessary, administers CPR/First Aid, including lifting and carrying injured children.
• Maintains professional conduct when working with parents, staff, and visitors.
• Maintains strict confidentiality regarding children and families.
• Prepares and forwards forms requested by the Director.
