Job OverviewThe Distribution Center Clerk is responsible for a variety of distribution center duties to ensure the accurate and safe shipment of goods to and from the customer. Through this important work, the clerk provides support to the distribution center in order to achieve customer service, associate engagement, profitability goals and the company’s purpose.
Responsibilities- Provide clerical, organizational, and office support to the distribution center and handle requests from vendors, corporate office and DC team members.
- Enter data electronically; perform daily reporting of material movement, purge requests, pre‑alert entries, transfers, and other related tasks.
- Assist DC team members with inventory tracking and updates.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations organized at all times.
- Wear the proper safety equipment.
- Perform other general warehouse duties as needed.
- Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D. required;
Associate’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience preferred. - Work Experience:
At least one year of related work experience. - Skills:
- "Safety First" mentality.
- Effective listening, speaking, and writing communication skills.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and other warehouse software.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently in a fast‑paced and frequently changing environment.
- Problem‑solving ability, anticipation of questions/issues, and decision making under pressure.
- Adherence to basic safety procedures and precautions due to physical risks.
- Adhere to all company procedures, policies, and guidelines for health and safety.
- Report suspicious activities, concerns, or potential theft to management, Human Resources, or Loss Prevention.
- Routine exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness, and unpleasant air conditions.
- Require considerable physical exertion, including frequent standing, walking, and assuming awkward positions for long periods.
- Use manual dexterity, with regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, and working from elevated surfaces.
- Frequently lift and carry 20–60 pounds.
- Operate in mezzanines up to 50 feet high.
- Maintain clear vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to hear accurately.
- Work in a non‑air‑conditioned warehouse environment.
- Wear mandatory PPE (safety shoes, glasses, vest, gloves, bump cap) as required.
- Follow company work and seasonal hours, policies, procedures, and rules governing professional staff behavior.
- Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
- Firearms positions require handling of ammunition and/or firearms; successful completion of firearms‑specific criminal background check and firearms authorized training is required.
- Powered Industrial Truck positions require operation of a powered industrial truck; a valid Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) certification provided by Academy is required.
