Job descriptionThe Piping & Structural Estimator partners with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and clients to review drawings and specifications, develop accurate cost estimates, and prepare competitive proposals for piping projects.
Summary of Major Responsibilities/Duties- Review drawings, specifications, and project data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare takeoffs and cost estimates.
- Research supplier, vendor, and subcontractor pricing and develop proposals based on material, labor, and subcontract costs.
- Coordinate with clients and internal teams to clarify scope, resolve issues, and support estimate accuracy.
- Identify cost trends and recommend improvements to estimating processes and cost control efforts.
- Perform all work safely, follow required procedures, and elevate unsafe conditions to supervision.
Skills and Abilities
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related education, training, and experience.
- Strong ability to read technical documents, prepare routine reports, and communicate effectively with customers and employees.
- Working knowledge of math concepts used in estimating, including geometry, ratios, percentages, and proportions.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and solve routine problems in a structured work environment.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and committed to quality work.
- Strong listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Professional, respectful, and able to manage challenging customer interactions.
- Reliable, composed, and able to meet commitments while maintaining attention to detail.
