Evidence Technician (Part‑Time) – City of Kaukauna Police Department
The City of Kaukauna Police Department is seeking a detail‑oriented, reliable Part‑Time Evidence Technician to manage all aspects of property and evidence handling. If you’re organized, tech‑savvy, and interested in supporting law enforcement operations behind the scenes, we’d love to hear from you!
What You’ll Do- Manage the department’s digital and physical evidence from intake through final disposition
- Maintain accurate records and ensure strict chain-of-custody compliance
- Process evidence, including fingerprint lifting, photography, DNA collection, and digital file management
- Prepare evidence for court and respond to discovery and public records requests
- Coordinate with crime labs, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders
- Assist at crime scenes with evidence photography and collection when needed
- Maintain inventories, supplies, and property/evidence equipment
- Provide credible testimony regarding evidence handling
- At least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license
- Associate’s degree in Forensic Science or a related field
- Strong knowledge of evidence handling, search and seizure laws, and preservation techniques
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently
- Ability to interact professionally and compassionately with victims, suspects, and the community
- Comfortable performing physical tasks and working in varied environments (indoors/outdoors, low light, biohazards, weather conditions, etc.)
