Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) – Kaukauna, WI

Intertek, a nationally recognized testing lab and leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector to join our Professional Services Industries Inc. (Intertek‑PSI) team in Kaukauna, WI. This opportunity allows a versatile career in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry.

What you’ll do
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environment guidelines, policies, and regulations
  • Testing and inspection of structural steel during erection on general building and pipeline sites, as well as occasional plant inspections
  • Inspect general construction and structural steel erection for buildings
  • Perform visual inspections on welded products in progress and completed jobs
  • Inspect welding jobs for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, etc.
  • Record results of tests and welding inspections
  • Issue and follow up on non‑conformances until close out
  • Plan and conduct the analysis, inspection, test, and/or integration to assure quality of assigned product or component
  • Review all welded products or components and provide input to accept or reject the product
  • Document data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures
  • Communicate significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provide recommended process improvements to management
  • Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications
  • Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers
  • Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (example: soil, concrete or other) and provide assessment of data through reporting
  • Operate a calculator to calculate mathematical test results
  • Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure personal safety and the safety of others affected by your actions at work
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Must have AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification with D1.1 experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience required
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand, and interpret tolerances
  • Computer skills:
    Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be able to receive, understand, and execute written and verbal directions
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal and written communication
  • Must be able to work well independently and with others
  • Must be able to periodically work off‑shifts and overtime
  • Must be able to test concrete and compaction
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record (required)
Preferred Requirements and Qualifications
  • Technical Degree in Welding is preferred
  • Construction materials testing experience is preferred
