Tanner Clinic has an immediate opening for a full-time Medical Records Supervisor at our Kaysville Business Office.
EssentialJob Responsibilities
- Managing, interviewing, hiring, directing activities, coaching, training, appraising performance, tracking attendance for payroll and disciplining
- Set goals and deadlines for the department
- Analyze internal processes and recommend and implement procedural or policy changes to improve operations
- Align the Medical Records and Transcription department with organizational strategies
- Demonstrate leadership and effective communication skills
- Manage monthly reports
- Manage the staff schedule
- Schedule and facilitate records reviews/audits
- Contract with medical records outsourcing services
- Trouble‑shoot problems with digital recorders
- Other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification from a medical transcriptionist program is preferred.
- 5+ years of medical records / transcription experience
- 2+ years of management experience preferred
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job
- Knowledge of clinic policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of medical records and transcription functions
- Knowledge of managerial skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of individual job responsibilities
- Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines with regard to medical records
- Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision‑making to achieve objectives
- Skill in analyzing situations accurately and taking effective action
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, policy‑making bodies, patients, third‑party payers, and the public
- Skill in organizing work, making assignments, and achieving goals and objectives
- Skill in exercising judgment and discretion in developing, applying, interpreting, and coordinating departmental policies and procedures
- Ability to provide strong leadership through coaching and mentoring with a focus on customer service
- Ability to assume responsibility and exercise authority over assigned work functions
- Ability to establish and maintain quality control standards
- Ability to organize and integrate organizational priorities and deadlines
- Ability to interact directly with physicians and/or under strict deadlines
- Ability to manage stress from dealing with complex patient advocacy issues
- Digital/analog transcription equipment with headsets and foot pedals. Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, scanners, telephones, etc.
- Quiet and comfortable office setting. Position is in well‑lighted office environment.
- Involves sitting approximately 75 percent of the day, walking, or standing the remainder.
