Duties SummaryPlans, organizes, supervises, and coordinates recreational therapy and allied services of a health institution. Participates in recreational therapy and allied services; and performs other related duties as assigned.
The supervisory level in the Recreational Therapist Series involves full technical and administrative responsibility for the recreational therapy program and supervision of a small staff. Responsibilities include allied services such as leisure recreation, community relations, volunteer services, and training. Work is performed under general supervision.
Minimum Qualification RequirementsTo qualify, you must meet all of the following:
- Legal Authorization To Work: Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident alien, or eligible for unrestricted employment under federal law.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education, special education, psychology, or sociology with at least 12 semester credit hours in recreation or therapy-oriented areas.
- Specialized Experience: Three years of professional experience in a recreational therapy program providing treatment and rehabilitative services to persons with disabilities, psychosocial disorders, substance abuse problems, or the elderly. At least one year must be comparable to Recreational Therapist III.
