Position Overview
Workers’ Compensation Hearings Officer V (III, II, I) – State of Hawaii, Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, Disability Compensation Division, Oahu. Full-time, on-site interviews may be required.
Responsibilities- Conduct independent examination of complex workers’ compensation claims and administrative hearings.
- Determine benefits, issue awards, and provide consultative services to claimants, insurers, and employers.
- Prepare clear reports, interpret laws and regulations, and recommend actions.
- Assist junior staff in claims preparation and training.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. - Experience:
General experience of 1½ years for Levels V and III, ½ year for Level II; no general experience for Level I. - Specialized experience:
Two years for Level V; none for Levels II, I. - Demonstrated knowledge of HAWAII State Workers’ Compensation laws, ability to write comprehensive reports, interpret complex written material, and solve problems logically.
