SALARY RANGE: BU09 | SR20
SALARY RATE: $99,122.40 (Annual Salary) based on the FTE
JOB DUTIES: The Emergency Department provides medical screening examinations, ongoing assessment and initial treatment or advice to patients with illnesses or injuries who present to the department for treatment. Emergency care is offered 24 hours a day with an experienced physician on duty and specialty consultants from the medical staff available in a timely fashion. The Registered Professional Nurse coordinates nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other staff and departments to maintain standards of nursing care;
follows established policies, procedures, and specific instructions. This position may require working shifts, weekends, and holidays.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements.
- Education: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.
- Professional Nursing
Experience:
One-half (1/2) year of responsible professional nursing work experience, including at least one-half (1/2) year in an emergency room setting. - Certification: Current BLS certification required at the time of appointment. ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required within six (6) months of employment.
- License: License to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii.
- Knowledge and Abilities: Nursing theory and practice; biological, physical, social, and medicinal sciences related to nursing; nursing techniques and procedures; nursing literature and current trends. Ability to apply nursing theory and practices to planning and providing nursing care, recognize and evaluate patient symptoms, direct nursing assistants, and work effectively with patients, families, medical staff, and employees.
