Registered Nurse Float Pool (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry) | Contract Position
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Float Pool team supporting multiple Medical‑Surgical and Telemetry units. This role requires flexibility, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to provide high‑quality patient care across various inpatient settings. The RN will also assist with Medical‑Surgical overflow patients in ICU and Emergency Department areas as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care to adult and pediatric Medical‑Surgical and Telemetry patients.
- Float between designated Medical‑Surgical and Telemetry units based on staffing and patient care needs.
- Assist in caring for Medical‑Surgical overflow patients in ICU and Emergency Department settings.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans.
- Monitor, evaluate, and document patient progress and responses to treatment.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and facility policies.
- Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation.
- Adhere to all facility policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of 3 years of recent Medical‑Surgical and/or Telemetry nursing experience.
- Previous float pool experience preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking skills.
- Experience caring for adult and pediatric patient populations.
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records is required.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different units and patient populations.
- Current BLS/BCLS certification required.
- Additional specialty certifications may be preferred based on unit needs.
- 13‑week contract assignment.
- Night shift.
- 12‑hour shifts.
- 72 hours every two weeks.
- Holiday coverage required as needed.
The ideal candidate is a flexible, team‑oriented nurse who thrives in dynamic environments, demonstrates strong clinical competence, and is comfortable floating between units while maintaining exceptional standards of patient care.
