JOB DUTIES :The Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) provides management, supervision and treatment in a secure setting for patients with behavioral health disorders who can not be treated at a less acute level of care. A multidisciplinary team provides intensive treatment, the goals of which include symptom stabilization and improved functioning. The team will also collaborate closely with families, out patient providers, case managers and others who will assist the patient in developing and using her/his self-care abilities to enjoy optimal health.

The Registered Professional Nurse IV, Behavioral Health Lead is responsible for assisting the RPN VI, Behavioral Health Manager in coordinating and supervising the staff, and managing the daily operations of the unit by fulfilling the technical and clinical functions, requirements, skills and competencies of the staff. Also serves as a resource in some clinical matters and performs other duties as assigned.

May work on rotating shifts with work on weekends and holidays.

THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing. While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Applicants must have shown progressively responsible work experience of the kind and quality described below:

  One and one-half (1 ½) years of progressively responsible professional nursing work experience in an acute care setting where the employee provided case management to in-patient psychiatric patients. Such experience must have been gained within the last two (2) years.
• SUPERVISORY APTITUDE: For Registered Professional Nurse IV, applicants must have demonstrated possession of supervisory aptitude.
