SALARY RATE: $158,712 - $201,972 (Annual Salary) based on the FTE

JOB DUTIES :
This position is located in the Rural Health Clinic, of Kona Community Hospital, a 94 bed acute care facility located on the island of Hawaii, serving as the West Hawaii Regional Center, which also includes Kohala Hospital. It is one of the 9 facilities within the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.

The Rural Health Clinic provides primary care and specialty services for the island/county of Hawaii, which includes consultation, treatment, surgical service, and behavioral Health follow-up.

The Nurse Practitioner II is responsible for quality and completeness of assigned medical services at any of the clinic sites. To provide primary health care services consistent with the philosophy of Kona Community Hospital (KCH). The Nurse Practitioner practices under a supervising physician as determined/ and set forth by the facility chosen standardized procedure. Under the general supervision of the lead physician and in accordance with standardized procedures, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing care to ambulatory patients through regular health assessments and the management of common acute and chronic stable conditions.

The Nurse Practitioner performs physical examinations and health assessments, provides diagnosis formulation and implementation of treatment plans, evaluation, follow-up for health promotion and disease prevention as well as diagnosis and management of acute episodic and chronic illness of a patient and possesses prescriptive authority to provide appropriate medications. Provides consultative and educational services to other staff. Improves and develops Nurse Practitioner policies, procedures and guidelines and performs other duties as assigned.

THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE:
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.

EDUCATION:

Master’s Degree in Nursing or a current certification for specialized and advanced nursing practice in a specialty area: (i.e., Adult, Gerontological, Pediatric, Acute Care, Neo-Natal, Women’s Health Care, Family, Psychiatric Mental Health, Family Health, Community Mental Health) from an accredited program approved bya national certifying body recognized by the Board of Nursing (i.e., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners/Nurses, the National Certification Corporation for Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialists).

Certification and specialization in Oncology/Hematology is preferred.

LICENSE

REQUIRED:

A valid license with the State of Hawaii as a professional nurse at the time of appointment.

RECOGNITION REQUIREMENT:
Recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) from the State of Hawaii Board of Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner at the time of appointment. For level II, recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with Prescriptive Authority (non-controlled substance or controlled substance) from the State of Hawaii, Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs at the time of appointment.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Three and one-half (3-1/2) years of professional nursing work experience, of which one (1) year must be satisfactory work experience serving in a full supervisory, or similarly responsible capacity and supervising the nursing care…
