Job Description
The Central Nebraska Veterans’ Home is looking for a part‑time office technician/Front desk person. The schedule is one 12‑hour shift per week (7:30am‑8:00pm) with possible opportunities to fill in when needed. The wage is $18.00/hr ($15.00/hr + $3 differential per hour).
ResponsibilitiesUnder limited supervision, performs work in the reception area at the facility’s main entrance; answers the facility’s multiple‑line phone; establishes incoming and outgoing calls; operates public address systems, paging systems, information boards, and e‑mail to facilitate communication; greets visitors, members, and employees; answers questions and provides directions.
Provides surveillance of weather conditions and facility alarms; announces and reports emergency “codes” per policy; maintains logs for visitors, members, and facility items (including facility keys and vehicles); receives donations at the reception area and alerts appropriate staff; completes and forwards donation paperwork; maintains office supplies; processes reservations for onsite guest accommodations; maintains Lost & Found area and assists with clerical or distribution projects.
Minimum QualificationsCoursework, training, or experience in public contact, customer service, and/or performing office/clerical support procedures; proficiency with a personal computer, associated software, and office equipment.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of office, business, and clerical support procedures and practices; customer service and telephone etiquette practices.
Skill in operating office equipment such as multi‑line telephone systems, personal computers, typing, reproduction and scanning equipment, multi‑sorters, collators, calculators, posting and mailing machines, and associated software.
Ability to interact tactfully and courteously with visitors, customers, clients, agency employees, and the public in a positive/professional manner; communicate clearly; work well under pressure and remain calm during emergency situations; make independent decisions when circumstances warrant; learn the organization and layout of the facility and its functions; follow written and oral instructions; learn the operation of the reception area and related communication equipment;
adapt quickly to changes in procedures.
