Job Summary

This position serves as an integral part of the engineering program at the University of Nebraska, Kearney, and its counterpart at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. The role facilitates and coordinates recruitment, outreach, retention, and career development activities for current and prospective engineering students.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate recruitment and retention events, materials, and programming in collaboration with the Lincoln office and independently to recruit and retain students for UNK’s engineering foundations program.
  • Develop and implement content and strategies to attract undergraduate students into engineering.
  • Act as the primary contact for prospective students and parents, counseling them on academic and admission requirements, and assisting with inquiries and campus visits.
  • Provide local internship opportunities for engineering students and serve as a liaison to the local engineering community, helping to develop the community as a resource for the foundations program.
  • Assist with student retention by offering academic and transfer support, and by developing, coordinating, and promoting content and events that support current engineering students.
  • Lead outreach initiatives to attract future engineers, including coordinating UNK’s Science Day outreach.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
  • Experience in marketing, communications, or public relations.
  • Experience in student services.
  • Experience organizing student internships or cooperative education.
  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • Experience in industrial management.
  • Experience in STEM outreach.
