Description of Work

Position is part of the processing team comprised of associate and assistant directors, specialists and support staff. Responsible for verifying income and other information on financial aid applications, calculating refund and repayment amounts for withdrawn students and overseeing operations of the Federal Work‑Study program, including the America Reads/America Counts tutoring with the Lincoln Public Schools. Assist with awarding financial aid for spring and summer sessions.

Work with the other specialists in assisting with any processing functions including, but not limited to, revising aid due to grade level progressions, over cost and over need situations and mid‑year graduation and processing of Direct Loan program. Position is cross‑trained to be able to assist other staff in performing critical business operations. May need to meet with students and discuss specific issues or general aspects of institutional, state and federal financial assistance.

Minimum

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills essential.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a college or university financial aid office or comparable setting preferred.
  • Experience using People Soft or similar software preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended, related interpretations, rules and regulations associated with the Act helpful.
Additional Information

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required. Subject to DOT approved pre‑employment & random testing for alcohol and controlled substances.
