Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring competency with arterial lines and strong titration skills.

Job Details

• Acute care, 40-bed stepdown Progressive Care Unit,

• Adult patient population with cardiac, med/surg, renal failure, vascular, sepsis, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer, and cancer diagnosis cases,

• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on both day and night shifts,

• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required,

• RNs titrate drips such as heparin, nitro, dopamine, cardizem, amiodarone, and insulin,

• RNs read and interpret their own telemetry strips,

• Equipment includes high flow oxygen, overhead lifts, portable lifts, vein finders, and bladder scanners,

• Uses Epic EMR,

• Floating required to Med Surg or ICU to care for PCU-acuity patients,

Job Requirements

• Active NE or Compact RN license required at time of consideration,

• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or stepdown experience,

• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required (no pending certifications accepted),

• Competency with arterial lines required,

• Must pass an open-book skills exam with at least 90% during orientation,

• Must provide a copy of a valid driver's license for radius determination,

• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility,

• Cannot be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facility,

• At least two professional references: one from a recent supervisor (last 12 months) and another from a peer or supervisor (last 3 years),

• Holiday coverage required for at least two holidays falling within the contract,

• Scrub color is navy blue,

• Artificial nails are prohibited for all patient care staff,

• Orientation consists of one 12-hour unit-specific shift,

• Patient care tech ratios are 1:12; unit has charge nurses on every shift,

• Unit values flexibility, strong communication, and adaptability,

• Serves a culturally diverse patient population, primarily Hispanic and Somalian,

• Maximum of 7 days requested time off (RTO) permitted per 13-week contract, all requested upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after submission,
