Description:

The unit provides care for adult patients with a variety of diagnoses including cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory issues, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure.
Ratios are 1:4-5 for both day and night shifts.
A charge nurse is present on each shift, and they take an assignment.
Patient care techs are available with a ratio of 1:12.
RNs are expected to troubleshoot various respiratory equipment such as high flow.
RNs must interpret their telemetry strips.
Shifts are from 0630 to 1830 and 1830 to 0630.
Weekend requirements involve working every other weekend.
Holidays require a minimum of 2 within the contract timeframe.
Floating to Med Surg or ICU may be required to care for patients with PCU acuity.
Scrub color is navy blue.
Unit-specific orientation lasts for one day.
A focus is placed on patient experience scores, responsiveness, and communication regarding medications.
Flexibility and willingness to learn are valued along with the ability to take feedback.
A successful nurse is a team player, adaptable, and possesses strong communication skills.
The unit serves a diverse patient population.
Request time off must be provided upfront, and additional requests will not be approved.
Cancellations can occur up to 4 shifts within the contract period.
The charting system used is EPIC.
A BSN is not required for this position.
This is an acute care setting.
Trauma level is 2.
