Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Nutrition Assistant, you will assist in delivering high-quality, safe, and efficient food services to patients and staff.

Every day you will prepare and deliver meal trays, assist with food preparation, maintain cleanliness, ensure food safety compliance, and interact with patients regarding dietary needs.

To be successful, you will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong food safety knowledge, and excellent customer service, contributing to a positive dining experience.

  • Prepares and serves food according to dietary guidelines and recipes, ensuring food safety and allergy awareness.
  • Maintains strict adherence to food safety standards, including temperature control, sanitation, and proper food storage/labeling.
  • Delivers high-quality patient and customer experiences through accurate meal portioning, appealing presentation, and service recovery.
  • Manages patient-specific dietary needs, including therapeutic diets, allergy restrictions, and explains basic diet orders to patients/families.
  • Utilizes electronic systems for diet management, patient information, and performs essential cleaning tasks.
Job Requirements
  • One (1) year of Food Service Experience and
Preferred
  • High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or
  • High School GED General Studies, upon hire and
  • Customer Service Experience

Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Neb. At CHI Health Good Samaritan, you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers Air Care emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.
