Overview
Under minimal direction, oversee the operation and maintenance of the City’s parks, cemetery, forestry, and Cotton mill City/County Park Operations. Work requires significant interpretive judgment in variation from established standards and procedures.
ResponsibilitiesOversee and coordinate special projects during planning, implementation, and maintenance phase to include, cemetery operations, buildings, new parks, trail projects, and lake renovation; prepare written communications and make presentations to the public, service clubs, user groups, Park and Recreation Advisory Board and park users; establish performance standards for park and forestry maintenance and operations; oversee the work of consultants on various capital projects;
determine staffing needs, qualifications and staffing patterns according to program requirements; oversee the hiring and evaluation of employees; provide employee development and training; take corrective action to improve services; maintain reports of activities; assign, schedule, and supervise, through supervisors, full-time and seasonal employees; prepare and oversee various budgets for division; prepare reports, studies, bid specifications, quotes, grants and project reports for the 5-year plan;
explore and develop alternative revenue source; oversee and manage park division expenditures; oversee material purchases; resolve client or public complaints; represent the department at meetings and conferences; may act as the Director of the Parks Department when the Director is absent; and perform other duties as assigned.
Serves as the head of the Parks division in the Park Department.

Minimum Education , Training, and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in park and natural resources, construction management, or a related field; ten years of experience in grounds, building and equipment maintenance, including five years in a supervisory capacity; must possess a valid Nebraska driver’s license.
Residency RequirementsThis position has a thirty (30) minute response time by way of the most direct route from the employee’s permanent residence to the employee’s assigned work site and within posted speed limits.
