Job Title

2nd Shift Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary

Directs and coordinates the activities of the Maintenance department. A supervisor responsible for ensuring maintenance work is completed on‑time, on‑budget and safely works closely with persons planning jobs to understand future work. Directs and coordinates hourly plant employees in the equipment repair process and continually seeks simpler, smarter and more effective ways to perform maintenance work while keeping Safety, Quality, Service and Profitability in mind.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety of the Maintenance team by enforcing lock‑out/tag‑out procedures, PPE, proper lifting techniques, tow motor safety, fall protection, confined space entry, and other safety practices; properly document safety activities.
  • Train new employees and provide continuous training of existing team members on proper troubleshooting of each piece of equipment.
  • Generate preventive maintenance tasks on a daily basis and keep the PM database up to date.
  • Request repair parts as needed to maintain equipment.
  • Ensure handoff of equipment to QA for inspection after equipment is repaired following a breakdown.
  • Communicate and enforce GMP compliance for all team members.
  • Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Ensure all employees follow standard operational and working practices.
  • Ensure food safety and quality procedures are followed, along with enforcement of SQF/GMP policies.
  • Accurate record‑keeping to maintain reliable maintenance records.
  • Work within the maintenance department to keep equipment in the best mechanical condition.
  • Review all accident and incident investigations and take action to eliminate future occurrences.
  • Counsel hourly associates and administer disciplinary action as necessary.
  • Maintain good morale and positive attitudes among hourly associates.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, administering recognition and/or discipline, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
Qualifications
  • Experience with GMPs, HACCP, sanitation, process improvement, plant safety programs, and quality assurance.
  • Proven ability to lead, make decisions, facilitate change, and manage conflict.
  • Strong people skills with the ability to align performance for success.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and proper use of operating hand tools.
  • Ability to work safely at heights (up and down ladders).
Education and/or Experience
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university, and/or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must understand the technical, engineering, and quality requirements of the operating processes and plant equipment, and be sufficiently technical to provide crew members confident guidance on day‑to‑day technical matters.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively with employees and management.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of variables in limited‑experience situations; interpret a variety of written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
Physical Demands
  • Lifting, twisting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling and stooping as necessary; may lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires visual acuity at various ranges and peripheral vision.
  • Ability to work on concrete surfaces, in noisy environments, on stairs, and in refrigerated environments (35–45°F).
  • Fast‑paced work environment requiring stress tolerance.
Work Environment

Full‑time regular position, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day with minimal overtime. Travel is not required.
