Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a Level 2 trauma acute care assignment, requiring a NE or compact RN license and strong critical care credentials.
Responsibilities- Work in a 33-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within an acute care hospital setting
- Adult patient population including trauma, cardiac, stroke, post-stent, overdose, sepsis, vascular, renal, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases
- Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:2-3 in the ICU
- Required to titrate various drips, including cardiac, insulin, and sedation
- Use of advanced respiratory equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPap, and high-flow nasal cannula
- RNs must interpret and document telemetry strips using GE monitors with tele tech oversight
- Epic EMR is used; prior experience is preferred
- Shift is 12-hour days or )
- Floating to PCU or Med Surg may occur, with typical ratios of 1:4 or 1:5 in those units
- Orientation includes one department-specific shift and a skills open-book exam (90% required to pass)
- Traveler scheduling does not allow guaranteed block scheduling, except possibly for weekends
- Must cover at least two holidays that fall within the contract period
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend
- Artificial nails are prohibited for all patient care staff
- Team includes nurse aides based on census and Healthcare Support Techs on weekdays
- First time travelers are accepted
- All requested RTO must be submitted upfront, no additional RTO will be approved
- Pass/fail orientation exam is open book and covers skills learned; 90% score required to continue assignment
- Active NE or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of 2 years recent ICU nursing experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Driver's license required to confirm residence outside a 50-mile radius
- May not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with Common Spirit, including CHI and/or Dignity in past year
- References from one supervisor within last 12 months and one peer or supervisor within last 3 years required
