Nebraska Medicine is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Hematology & Oncology team at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center in Kearney. This role supports a complex, high-acuity patient population within a large academic medical center and requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and a high level of compassion and resilience. Experience in oncology or other specialty care is strongly preferred, with priority consideration given to candidates with a clinical background in oncology.

The APP will work closely with a multidisciplinary team in an outpatient setting to provide comprehensive care for patients with a variety of oncologic and hematologic diagnoses. Responsibilities include autonomous clinic visits, patient triage, and procedures, with potential involvement in inpatient consults and rounding at both Kearney hospitals. This role requires effective communication in sensitive situations, as care often involves patients facing serious illness, and the ability to work in an emotionally challenging environment.

Schedule

* Four 8-hour day shifts (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

* 1 of every 6 weekends on-call

* 1 holiday per year on-call rotation

Duties:

Provide comprehensive health care to individuals diagnosed with hematological and oncological disorders in an outpatient and/or inpatient setting for medical patients. Diagnose medical conditions, plan and implement interventions, and evaluate patient responses in collaboration with a designated supervising physician. Perform and assist with diagnostic and therapeutic medical and/or surgical procedures. Procedures can include, but are not limited to, administration of intrathecal chemotherapy, bone marrow biopsy and lumbar puncture.

Required Qualifications:

Nurse Practitioner

* Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school/college of nursing required.

* Minimum of two years RN experience or equivalent combination of RN and nurse practitioner experience combined (two years of RN experience equals one year of APRN experience) required.

* Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska or current compact state required.

* Currently licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Practitioner (APRN) required.

* Approved certifications based on position, department and population served:

Adult Inpatient:

* Adult Gerontology Acute Care (AGACNP-BC)

* Adult (ANP-BC)

* Acute Care (ACNP-BS)

Adult Outpatient:

* Adult Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP-BC)

* Adult (ANP-BC)

* Family (FNP-BC)

* Acute Care (ACNP-BC)

* Adult Gerontology Acute Care (AGACNP-BC)

* Applicants must obtain Advanced Oncology Nurse Practitioner certification within 2 years of start date

Pediatric Heme/Onc/BMT Inpatient/Outpatient:
