Radius Rule: 50 miles and candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with Common Spirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. Fingernail policy:
Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care – refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract. Driver's license required at submittal, used to determine if candidate is outside 50 miles.
- RN's – Pass/Fail exam on Wednesdays during orientation. Open book exam on skills learned; resources are provided. Must score 90% to pass or they will be terminated.
- Scheduling:
Blocked scheduling only approved for weekends. Duos who need to share care or require same schedule are not accepted. Call‑in staff must arrive within 30 minutes if called back in. Department: PCU. - Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
- Competence in arterial lines required.
- Unit: 40 beds, average daily census 24. Ratios 1:4–5 day and night.
- Common diagnoses:
Adults; cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory, stroke, post‑stent, post‑pacer placement, renal failure. - Drip titration:
Yes – common drips include heparin, nitro, dopamine, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin. - Charge nurse on each shift; takes assignments.
- Nurse aids / patient care techs present; ratio 1:12.
- Respiratory equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, etc.) – RNs troubleshoot high flow.
- Tele/monitor techs present; RNs read and interpret strips. Brand unspecified.
- Shift times: 06:30–18:30, 18:30–06:30.
- Weekend requirement:
Every other weekend. - Holiday requirement:
Minimum 2 holidays during contract. - Floating:
Yes to Med Surg or ICU to cover PCU acuity patients. - Scrub color / dress code:
Navy blue. - Orientation: 1 day unit/department specific.
- Additional notes:
Overhead lifts in half the rooms; portable lifts, vein finder, bladder scanner. Focus on patient experience scores, responsiveness, hospital environment, communication about medications. Successful candidates are flexible, team players with strong communication skills, adaptable. Unit serves primarily Hispanic and Somali populations. RTO needed upfront (≤7 days of 13‑week contract). No additional RTO allowed.
