Schedule / Job TypeContract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift (6:00 AM – 6:30 PM) | 12-Hour Shifts | Approximately 2 weekends (Saturday & Sunday) per month required; holiday coverage includes 1 major and 1 minor holiday | May require up to 2 additional shifts per 6-week period
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct ICU-level nursing care to adult and pediatric patients (patients under age 8 admitted to ICU) with diagnoses including open heart surgery post-op, CHF, COPD, overdose, sepsis, CVA with TPA, DKA, and neurological conditions within a 10-bed unit
- Manage and monitor advanced cardiac and critical care devices including IABP, Impella, and CRRT
- Care for Day 2/Day 3 post-operative CABG patients and participate in the facility's Tele Stroke program
- Maintain patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 depending on acuity level
- Float to PCU and Med Surg units as needed based on census; travelers are first to float
- Adhere to scheduling expectations including unit-assigned scheduling (no self-scheduling or blocked scheduling available)
- Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience, including cardiac experience
- Experience with IABP, Impella, and CRRT
- Experience with Day 2/Day 3 post-operative CABG patients
- Active Nebraska RN license or active compact RN license in good standing
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications
- Experience with Epic EMR
- Pediatric nursing experience highly preferred
- Experience with neurological patient populations and stroke care protocols
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to flexible scheduling in a fast-paced critical care environment
- Work within a collaborative, team-oriented ICU environment known for strong unit culture and teamwork
- Gain exposure to a diverse critical care patient population including cardiac surgery, neurological, and complex medical cases
