Description:
The unit has a radius rule of 50 miles. Candidates may not be full time, part time, or working PRN with any associated facility. A driver's license is required for candidates outside the 50-mile radius. Artificial nails are strictly prohibited in all patient care areas. Refusal to remove artificial nails may lead to termination of contract. RNs must pass a Pass/Fail exam during orientation, with an open book format on skills learned.
Candidates are provided with all necessary resources to pass the exam. A minimum score of 90% is required to pass; otherwise, termination of contract may occur. Blocked scheduling will not be approved unless limited to weekends. Duos wanting the same schedule or shared transportation will not be accepted. If placed on call, RNs have 30 minutes to report to work if called back.
The unit has 33 beds with an average daily census of 16. The nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:2-3 for adult patients. Common diagnoses include trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, and post-surgical cases. RNs are required to titrate drips, including any cardiac drip, insulin, and sedation. Nurse aides are available based on census needs to assist on the floor.
Healthcare support staff are present during weekdays to assist when needed. RNs are required to troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment, such as vents and CPAP devices. Shifts are scheduled from and . Self-scheduling is available for core staff, with travelers added in as needed. There is no guarantee for blocked scheduling. RNs are required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips.
Floating may occur to other units with the same patient ratios. A minimum of 2 holidays falling within the contract timeframe is required. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend. There is 1 shift of unit-specific orientation. RTO must be provided upfront, with a limit of 7 days per 13-week contract. Additional RTO will not be approved following submissions. The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
The charting system used is EPIC. A BSN is required for submission. This position is in an acute care setting. Trauma Level is 2.
