Provides direct and indirect patient care in the patient care setting. Communicates with physicians, leadership, and co-workers, as appropriate, about changes in patient’s clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Performs general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.

  • * Initiates assessment and reassessment of the neonate patient in accordance with Kearney Regional Medical Center’s procedures. This includes antepartum, postpartum, and newborns.
  • In collaboration with physician, establishes and revises plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
  • * Integrates appropriate standards of care into the patient’s plan of care based on the diagnosis and patient-specific needs.
  • * Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.
  • * Executes therapeutic and/or supportive interventions.
  • Provides care to patients with compromised nutritional/metabolic status.
  • Provides care to patients requiring extensive fluid and electrolyte management.
  • * Provides education for the patient and family to meet identified patient needs according to their needs, abilities, preferences and readiness to learn.
  • * Evaluates the patient’s response to and effectiveness of interventions.
  • * Evaluates patient’s progress toward established outcomes.
  • * Incorporates cultural considerations into the plan/delivery of care.
  • * Includes family, significant other, or identified support person in the care of the patient as appropriate.
  • * Documents patient care and related information according to KRMC’s procedures for documentation.
  • * Provides care in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team. Functions as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
  • * Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
  • * Assists physicians with procedures in the Emergency Department.
  • Appropriately utilizes all safety equipment when indicated and as defined by organizational procedure (i.e. lifting equipment, PPE, sharps, etc.).
  • Engages in department specific and organizational performance improvement initiatives.
  • Assesses and reassesses pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
  • Assesses cardio-respiratory systems for changes and provides appropriate treatment.
  • Observes behavioral and physiologic changes due to medications, takes appropriate actions and documents.
  • Carries out medical/surgical asepsis during treatments and special procedures.
  • Carries out established techniques for safe administration of medications and parenteral fluids, according to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Performs waived testing (point-of-care testing) per Clinical Laboratory’s and the patient care unit’s policies and procedures. Interprets results of waived tests and takes appropriate action on waived tests results.
  • Maintains regulatory agency requirements, hospital and nursing policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
Education And Experience

Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. BSN or current enrollment in BSN program preferred.

Must provide evidence of certification and/or instruction for practice area as required by State or Federal standards/regulations.

Other Credentials / Certifications

Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.#J-18808-Ljbffr
