Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse in Kearney, Nebraska. This position involves providing high-quality patient care in an acute care setting on a 22-bed unit with an average daily census of six patients. The role requires flexibility, teamwork, and a willingness to learn, with evening and night shifts available, including self-scheduling and cyclic rotation.

• Shift: Nights, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications:
  
  BLS Certification; minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  
  Experience with epic charting system.
• Float:
  Float rotation may be required to Med Surg, rehab, or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) taking Med Surg acuity.
• Additional Information:
  • Department handles cases such as total knee replacements, total hip replacements, ankle replacements, total shoulders, spines, back, and neck.
  • RNs are not required to titrate drips but must read their own strips, with tele boxes used for telemetry monitoring.
  • A charge nurse is on each shift and takes an assignment.
  • Nurse aides or patient care technicians assist on the unit, maintaining ratios of 1:5-6 for patients and 1:13 for nurse duties.
  • Shift hours are from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM and 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM, with self-scheduling and cyclic rotation.
  • Every other holiday work is required.
  • RTO requests of 7 days or less within the 13-week contract are accepted upfront; additional RTO during the contract will not be approved.
  • A day of unit-specific orientation is provided.
  • Certification required: BLS; minimum experience required: 2 years.
  • License submission required upon application.
