Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level II NICU position requiring NRP certification and prior charge RN experience in neonatal delivery support

Details
  • Acute care Level II NICU/Nursery treating infants from 30 weeks gestation, with telehealth neonatology support for 30-32 week infants and pediatrician partnership for 32+ weeks
  • 11-bed, 9-room unit
  • Patient ratios vary by acuity, up to 1:2 or 1:3 for feeder-growers
  • 12-hour night shifts scheduled 630p-7a
  • Uses EPIC EMR
  • RNs required to titrate drips including fluids, TPN, and blood products
  • RT equipment on unit includes ventilators and CPAP, with respiratory therapy managing equipment
  • Cardiac monitors present on unit; RNs read their own monitor strips
  • Weekend rotation required every third weekend, plus assistance filling additional open weekend shifts
  • Rotating holiday coverage required
  • May be placed on call during low patient volume periods since only 2 RNs are scheduled per shift
  • Rare floating to Postpartum unit if NICU census is closed
Requirements
  • Active RN license (NE state or Compact/NLC) required, active at time of consideration with no pending licenses accepted
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required, with active copies needed for consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Charge RN experience in a Level II NICU preferred
  • Must be comfortable serving as the baby nurse at deliveries and C-sections, including new newborn admissions
  • Experience running bubble CPAP and ventilators required
  • Comfortable titrating drips such as fluids, TPN, and blood products
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
  • Serve as the primary NICU nurse attending deliveries and C-sections for newborn admissions and stabilization
  • NNP in house 24/7 to support NICU care
  • No nurse aides staffed on the unit
  • Navy scrubs required per unit dress code
  • Unit-specific competency orientation provided
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility per state radius requirement
  • Candidates directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year are not eligible; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
