Tri-City Storm Ticket Sales Internship Program (2026-27 Season)

Kearney, Nebraska

The Tri-City Storm are seeking highly motivated, outgoing, and driven candidates for our 2026-27 Season Sales Internship Program. This opportunity is designed for students and recent graduates looking to gain hands‑on experience in the fast‑paced and competitive world of sports sales within the United States Hockey League (USHL).

Interns will work directly with the Storm's sales and business development staff to gain practical experience in ticket sales, corporate partnerships, customer relationship management, prospecting, and revenue generation. This internship is ideal for individuals interested in pursuing careers in professional sports sales, sponsorship sales, account management, or business development.

Position Overview

The Sales Internship Program provides valuable real‑world experience in sports business and revenue generation. Interns will be immersed in the day‑to‑day sales operations of the organization and will actively contribute to achieving ticketing and partnership revenue goals. Interns will receive mentorship from the Tri‑City Storm front office staff while developing professional sales skills including prospecting, lead generation, relationship building, sales presentations, and customer retention strategies.

Timeline

August 2026 – April 2027 (or completion of the USHL season and playoffs)

Responsibilities

As a Sales Intern, responsibilities may include:

Ticket Sales
  • Assist in the sale of season tickets, mini plans, flex packages, and group ticket packages.
  • Generate new business through outbound phone calls, emails, and prospecting efforts.
  • Research and identify potential ticket buyers within the Tri‑Cities region and surrounding communities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective fans.
  • Assist with season ticket member retention and renewal campaigns.
  • Support game‑day sales initiatives and lead‑generation efforts.
  • Participate in sales meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Generate and qualify leads for future sales opportunities.
Corporate Partnerships
  • Research prospective corporate sponsors and community partners.
  • Assist in the creation of sponsorship proposals and sales presentations.
  • Help maintain sponsor databases and partnership records.
  • Participate in sponsor prospecting and outreach efforts.
  • Assist with fulfillment and relationship management of existing partners.
Community Engagement & Networking
  • Represent the Tri‑City Storm at community appearances, networking events, and promotional functions.
  • Develop relationships with local businesses, organizations, schools, and youth sports programs.
  • Assist in grassroots marketing efforts designed to drive attendance and revenue.
Internship Requirements
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed college.
  • Housing and transportation in the Kearney or surrounding areas.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Professional demeanor and strong work ethic.
  • Previous sales, customer service, fundraising, or sports industry experience preferred.
  • Availability to attend home games and designated sales events throughout the season.
Compensation

This is an unpaid internship. Academic credit may be available through a participating college or university for eligible students. This internship is designed to provide practical experience and professional development for individuals pursuing careers in sports business, ticket sales, sponsorship sales, and professional sports management.
