Seasonal Street Maintenance Worker

Under close supervision, perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor in the maintenance, repair and minor construction of streets and storm sewers; operate light equipment. Work varies; individual judgment within prescribed standards and procedures is required. Operate various types of light construction equipment; perform manual labor in the maintenance, repair and minor construction of streets and storm sewers.

Repair and maintain street signs, assist with painting and taping of streets. Occasionally drive pickups and operate light equipment such as tractor mounted and push mowers. Work with street crews, other departments and the public. Perform overtime and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the eighth grade plus working knowledge of tools and equipment used in manual labor. Must be eighteen years of age and possess a valid driver's license.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS:

None.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND WORK AIDS USED:

Shovels, tampers, brooms, pickups, tractor-mounted and push mowers, and other hand tools.
