Mechanic III
Department: USMARC-0937
Location:
Clay Center, NE
- Perform maintenance, diagnoses of equipment malfunctions, and repairs of automobiles, trucks, UTVs and other agriculture and construction equipment.
- Acquire and inventory repair parts.
- Conduct and record vehicle safety inspections at scheduled intervals. Assist with the management of fuel storage systems.
- Occasional fabrication or modification of equipment mechanical systems.
This position requires work in inclement weather. A valid driver’s license is required to travel between sites.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma plus three (3) years of experience with vehicle maintenance and repairs of gas engines required; equivalency considered.
- Knowledge, skill, and ability to perform vehicle maintenance and repair minor vehicle problems.
- Valid driver’s license with ability to meet University driver eligibility requirements.
- Associate’s degree in mechanical field such as diesel technology, automotive technology, agriculture mechanics, or related field.
- Experience in agriculture mechanics.
- Agricultural mechanic skills.
- Repair and diagnostic skills with engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and equipment electrical systems.
- Computer diagnostics and troubleshooting skills.
- Spot painting and welding skills.
- Self-starter, independent worker, thorough and timely with repairs.
