Kearns Junior High School – 6th Grade Science (6-8) Teacher (1.0 FTE) External Applicants only
Applicants must meet at least one of the following licensing requirements:
- Have a Utah Professional Secondary teaching license; or,
- Have an out-of-state Professional Secondary license; or,
- Have a current Associate Secondary Educator License (AEL) through the Utah State Board of Education.
Required documents to upload with your application depend on your licensure situation:
- In and out-of-state applicants must upload a copy of their current state license.
- If approved for an Associate License, upload both a copy of your highest university degree and your AEL eligibility letter.
- New graduates from teacher preparation programs who have not yet received their official teaching license should upload a conferral letter from their university. The letter must be on official university letterhead and include:
- The degree earned
- The anticipated graduation date
- The type of license and content area(s) in which the candidate will be recommended to the Utah State Board of Education
Candidates must have officially graduated prior to the position start date. An official copy of the teaching license and degree will be required upon hire.
- Secondary Licensed teachers who already have a foundation science endorsement (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Physical Science, Physics, or Science Core (6-8) Endorsement) will qualify, but must obtain the Science (6-8) endorsement during the first year of employment if they do not already have it.
- Applicants may have an elementary license, but must already have either a professional level Science (6-8) endorsement or be approved for an Associate Endorsement in Science (6-8) through the Utah State Board of Education. Proof of the endorsement or degree must be uploaded upon application.
- ESL endorsement preferred.
- Preference given to candidates willing to help with extracurricular activities.
- Position begins with the 2026 – 2027 school year.

- Utilize effective teaching techniques in translating lesson plans into productive student learning experiences which best utilize the time available for instruction.
- Utilize computers and other technological classroom support equipment in student instruction.
